CNews Analytics (part of RBC Information Systems) published an analytical study about the 2013 financial results in the field of engineering and IT systems. The analysts at CNews reviewed the performances of the leading companies as well as the major trends and developments of the market. In its 2013 annual review, CNews recognized the Asteros Group as the largest provider of comprehensive infrastructure solutions for offices and facilities. Prior to this, the group attained first place in 2011. Moreover, according to the expert assessment, today Asteros is among the top three systems integrators in Russia in terms of IT infrastructure construction.
According to CNews Analytics, total revenues of the Asteros Group from engineering and IT solutions amounted to approximately $436 M. Out of this total, $233 M were received from IT systems, $303 M from engineering projects, and $167 M from security systems. Analysts from CNews noted that in 2013 all of the top five companies except for Asteros had reduced revenues in comprehensive infrastructure construction projects for offices and facilities. Meanwhile, the Asteros Group is strengthening its position in the area of physical security, which is evident due to the large amount (38%) of total revenues in this market segment.
Some of the largest facilities featuring infrastructure designed and built by Asteros are the Theater of Nations, the Hermitage Museum, VTB Arena Park, the international airports of Sochi, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo, the main offices of RusHydro, VTB, TNK-BP and Aeroflot, Adventure Park in the Imereti Lowland, the Olympic Village and hotels in Sochi, and many others. In addition, Asteros built a perimeter defense system for the coastal cluster of the Olympic Village as part of the preparations for hosting the ÕÕII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. The Asteros team received special thanks from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for this work.
“We are proud that we managed to strengthen Asteros' leadership and become the largest integrator of comprehensive infrastructure construction projects for offices and facilities during the difficult economic situation which persisted throughout 2013,” commented Yury Byakov, Chairman of the Board of the Asteros Group. “Developing within the unified framework of engineering systems, IT infrastructure, and integrated security, we were able to significantly expand on our expertise and make a big step towards implementing projects of national importance. As before, our company continues to focus on airports, multifunctional business centers, offices, sports facilities, and hotel complexes. We began to expand our line of business related to the development of infrastructure and security systems for amusement parks. In short, we are on the right course and are satisfied with the results achieved.”
In general, analysts estimate that the market dynamics of the Russian IT infrastructure sector are more than optimistic. In the review, there is a link to a research study by J'son & Partners Consulting, in which experts say that the IT infrastructure sector in Russia has an average annual growth rate of 45%. According to the consulting company, the volume of this sector is expected to reach $ 8 billion by 2017. The key trend in 2013 was the reformatting of the IT infrastructure market with a movement towards merging engineering and IT systems. Throughout 2013, the key drivers of market development were projects conducted in preparation for major international sporting events as well as projects associated with an increased level of security. Experts from CNews said that the key trend in 2013 was the clearly increasing use of ‘smart’ technologies, in which IT infrastructure is a determining factor.
