The Asteros Group has been awarded first place in the CNews “IT in aviation” rating for 2008. During the last year Asteros’ business in this industry has grown by almost three times.According to the CNews “IT in aviation” rating, Asteros was reñognized as the top IT-services provider in the aviation sector for 2008. Asteros’ overall revenue in the aviation sector for 2008 totaled 1,527 billion rubles. With this figure, Asteros outscores its closest rival almost twofold. In comparison with 2007, business growth in this economy sector made up 179%.
Asteros’ rapid business growth in the aviation industry was determined by the high demand for the company’s services in implementing comprehensive infrastructure projects. In 2008 the company opened a new department focused on the development of business in the transport and aviation industry. This line of business was made a top priority. Andrey Cheremnykh became head of the new Transport and Aviation Department at the beginning of 2009 – he had previously been the head of the Russian branch of the multinational company SITA, specializing in the deployment of modern information technologies in civil aviation.
