Asteros Group Appoints New CEO
Dear clients and partners,
We are pleased to inform you about the latest important events at the Asteros Group. On June 16th 2009 Mikhail Erenburg was appointed CEO of Asteros. Mr. Erenburg had previously been the Executive Director at UC RUSAL. Yuri Byakov is leaving the position of CEO to focus on business development with strategic clients.
Yuri Byakov is the Group’s majority shareholder with over 75% stake in the company. The remaining stock belongs to the investment fund Detroit Investments and to the management of Asteros. Mikhail Erenburg will also become a shareholder of the Asteros Group.
Yuri Byakov, the Group’s majority shareholder and Vice-President of Strategic Client Relations:
“The decision to appoint a professional manager to the position of CEO was taken due to significant business growth and the Group’s ambitious goal of becoming one of the top IT-service companies on the Russian market.
Rates of business growth at Asteros are consistently high. Over the last 4 years business has grown 6 times. Asteros’ main objective in the medium term is to become one of the Top 3 Russian systems integrators.
Appointing Mr. Erenburg as CEO gives our Group a number of unique competitive advantages. Having worked as a CIO of a large-scale aluminium holding for 3 years, Mikhail Erenburg has an excellent track record in managing large businesses and a sound understanding of clients’ and investors’ business needs.
I am confident that handing over the leadership of Asteros to a professional top-manager with such unique managerial experience will give Asteros a new momentum for continuing and sustainable development.” – Yuri Byakov, Vice-President of Strategic Client Relations.
By delegating his operational management duties, Yuri Byakov will now focus on his work on the Board of Directors. Mr. Byakov will also concentrate on developing business with new and existing key clients as Vice-President of Strategic Client Relations.
“Traditionally, in the IT business, company owners work mainly with clients, hold negotiations, secure contracts and manage working relationships with clients. At Asteros my core competency is in commerce and now I will have the opportunity to devote more time to working with clients.” Yuri Byakov, Vice-President of Strategic Client Relations.
Mikhail Erenburg, CEO of the Asteros Group
“I am pleased to have this opportunity to lead the Asteros IT-Group.
The IT business interested me when I was ordering IT-services as a client. It works on the principle of competition, is open to new innovations, and many interesting people work in IT. Aside from this, the information technology sector is one of the youngest and most prospective in the Russian economy.
I first got acquainted with Asteros about 5 years ago and since then have been keeping a close eye on the company. Asteros is a truly unique company. It expands its business activities year-on-year in all spheres; improving its expertise, expanding its client portfolio and engaging in large-scale integration projects.
The company differs from others in that it is not limiting its plans as a result of the economic crisis. Instead Asteros aims for the ambitious goal to strengthen its positions in the market while many IT firms have put development on hold. This is a serious challenge for me and I want to accept it together with the Asteros team.
As the CIO at RUSAL I got an idea of what the ideal IT-partner should be like. Now I would like to make my dream come true and make Asteros the best possible IT company for our clients”. Mikhail Erenburg, CEO of Asteros.
